Before your first lesson

Student assessment

Emily reads this before you ever sit down together, so the first lesson starts where you actually are — not with twenty minutes of questions she could have asked in advance.

It takes a few minutes. Only your name and email are required; everything else is there because the more she knows, the more the lessons get shaped around you. Already booked or not, you can fill this in now.

Who you are

Use the same email you book lessons with and this lands on your record.

Emily teaches middle school age and up.

Only if the student is under 18 — so Emily knows who to reach.

Where you are now

Emily teaches keyboard and voice, so both together is an option.

How long you have played or sung, and whether you have had lessons before. Starting from scratch is a perfectly good answer.

There is no wrong answer here — it just tells Emily where to begin.

Including what you can practise on at home — a keyboard, a piano, or nothing yet.

Where you want to go

Think eight to twelve weeks out. Something specific — lead a set, sing harmony without losing your part, play through a whole song.

Emily builds lessons around songs you actually want to sing and play.

Be honest rather than ambitious — the plan gets built around the real number.

Optional, and only as much as you want to share.

Nerves, a scheduling constraint, an injury, a story behind why you want to do this.

Only Emily sees this. Two required answers; the rest help but are up to you.
