This is a one-teacher music studio, not an advertising business. The short version: your details are used to teach you and to take payment, and nothing else. Nothing is sold, rented, or shared for advertising.
What is collected
- What you type in when you book. The student’s name, email address, phone number if you give one, and what they want to work on. For a student under 18, a parent or guardian’s name and email address are required as well.
- The student assessment. If you fill one in, the answers are stored — playing and singing experience, where you lead or serve now, goals, practice time and anything else you write.
- Your lessons. What you booked, when, whether it happened, and the lesson notes and practice assignments written for you.
- Messages. If you use the contact form, your name, email, phone and the note you sent.
- Payments. Handled entirely by Stripe. Card numbers never reach this site and are never stored here. This site keeps only the references Stripe gives it and whether a lesson has been paid for.
- Sign-in. The sign-in links emailed to you, and a cookie that keeps you signed in. There is no advertising or tracking cookie on this site.
When you agree to this
At booking. The booking form has a checkbox confirming you have read this notice, the terms and the studio policies, and the booking will not go through without it.
Who else sees it
Only the services needed to run lessons: Stripe for payments, Google Calendar for scheduling if the studio calendar is connected, and an email provider to send your confirmations and sign-in links. Nothing is sold, rented, or shared for advertising. Ever.
Students under 18
Emily teaches students of middle school age and up. This site is not meant for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them. If we find that a child under 13 has been signed up, the record is deleted.
For a student under 18, a parent or guardian’s name and email address are required at booking, and it is the parent or guardian who is agreeing to the terms on the student’s behalf.
Be clear about what that does and does not mean. Information is collected from the student: their name, email address, phone number if given, and whatever they write about their goals or in the assessment — the same as for an adult. Sign-in links go to the email address given for the student, so a student who books with their own address can sign in to their own student page.
A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct, or delete everything held about their child at any time, and does not need the student’s sign-in to do it. Write to emilymichaelboard@gmail.com.
Deleting your data
Sign in, open your student page, and use Account and data. It removes, immediately and without asking anyone:
- your student record — name, email, phone, parent or guardian details, your goals, and the private notes the studio keeps about your lessons
- every lesson booked under it, past and upcoming, with their lesson notes and practice assignments
- your track enrollment, and any recurring Stripe payment attached to it is cancelled first
- your assessment answers, including one submitted before you ever booked
- anything you sent through the contact form, matched on your email
- your sign-in session and any unused sign-in links
Upcoming lessons are removed from the studio calendar at the same time. If the billing cancellation cannot be completed — for example Stripe is unreachable — the deletion still goes ahead and the screen tells you so, with an address to write to. It will not quietly claim to have worked.
What is kept, and why
Stripe keeps the record of payments you have made: the amount, the date, and the last four digits of the card. Payment processors are required to retain that for tax and accounting purposes, so it cannot be deleted on request — it stays with Stripe under their own privacy policy, and it is not reachable from this website once your record here is gone. Emails you have exchanged with the studio directly live in that mailbox and are not part of this site; ask and they will be deleted too.
If you would rather someone did all of this for you, write to emilymichaelboard@gmail.com.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. The self-serve delete above does all three in one step. Residents of California, the EU and the UK have these rights by statute; this studio extends them to everyone.
